Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a city in the German state of Bavaria, located near the Austrian border. The city was established when Adolf Hitler ordered the merger of the two towns of Garmisch and Partenkirchen in order to host the 1936 Winter Olympics in Germany. The International Olympic Committee was initially planning to bypass Germany due to a lack of sufficient hotel rooms in the host town. However, Hitler forced the unification of Garmisch and Partenkirchen to form a larger town, making it more attractive to the IOC. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is now one of Germany's top ski tourist destinations, offering excellent hiking, skiing, and biking opportunities. The Partnach River runs through the Partnachklamm gorge. After 700 meters, the path carved into the rock ends, and you can continue your walk to one of the nearby huts. Take some time to stroll down any street, and you'll be astounded by the murals on the exteriors of the houses. If you visit during the right season, you can admire the beautiful flowers cascading down the charming balconies. In the winter, the slopes around the city are fantastic for skiers and tourists. During the summer, you can spend hours hiking the trails and taking in the panoramic views. The Außerfernbahn is a scenic train ride between Garmisch and Kempten, passing through picturesque Alpine valleys and lovely villages. You can also see Neuschwanstein Castle in Fussen along this route.
